====== Workplace ====== ===== Login ===== After installation the BPS workplace can be started by clicking the icon on the desktop: {{ :bps2:workplace:wp010.png?nolink |Icon}} Probably you get the following message if this is a fresh installation: {{ :bps2:workplace:wp011.png?nolink |No BPS Connections}} In this case one or more connections need to be set up in advance, see [[makeconn|Make Datastore Connections]]. If at least one connection is configured, the login dialog is displayed: {{ :bps2:workplace:wp012.png?nolink&600 |Login}} Enter here your user ID and the PIN, and select the desired connection. By clicking on //Login// you can then log into the workplace. For workstations without a physical keyboard (for example touchscreen devices), the BPS Workplace applications are also capable to show a virtual keyboard. Two keyboard layouts are available, an alphanumeric and a numeric layout. On dialogs and windows you can find buttons for enabling or disabling the virtual keyboards: {{ :bps2:workplace:wp013.png?nolink |VK Buttons}} {{:bps2:workplace:wp014.png?nolink&520|Alphanumeric}} {{:bps2:workplace:wp015.png?nolink&120|Numeric}} The virtual keyboards can be moved around by clicking down/touching somewhere outside the buttons (for example left beside the closing button), and dragging the keyboard to the desired position. Each window remembers what virtual keyboard has been used last, and automatically brings it up again each time the window or dialog is used. Positions of the virtual keyboards are remembered independent of the indivudual window, so it is displayed allways at the same place. ==== Automatic Login ==== If you want to automate the login, make a copy of the workplace icon, right click on it and click on //Properties//. In the //General// tab you may want to change the icons description: {{ :bps2:workplace:wp016.png?nolink |General}} In the //Shortcut// tab, append to //Target// a BPS connect string in form of //UserID/PIN@Connectionname// (separate it by a blank from the program name): {{ :bps2:workplace:wp017.png?nolink |Shortcut}} After saving the properties with OK you can use the new icon to start the workplace and login automatically. ==== Automatic Login and Start Application ==== Sometimes it is convenient not only to automate login, but also to start an application withoin the workplace. For example this makes sense at packing lines where allways the same application is used. First you need to know the technical name of the application to start. Those names can be found in the function tab of the groups application. Look for the functions named ''workplace.//XXX//.run'', where //XXX// is the searched application name: {{ :bps2:workplace:wp018.png?nolink&500 |Groups - Functions}} Append now ''-s //XXX//'' to the shortcut target to make that application automatically start after logging into the workplace: {{ :bps2:workplace:wp019.png?nolink |Verknüpfung}} Please note that only on application can be automatically started this way. The user can however start more applications in the workplace as usual.
