====== Software Installation ====== Download the software from the [[http://ibk-software.com/downloads|IBK Website]]. You can find different installer packages for English (en), German (de), French (fr) and Italian (it). The difference of the installers is the language of the installation program, and in what language the shortcuts will be created in the Windows startmenu and on the desktop. The installed BPS software is the same in any case, it is multilingual and will show up in the language of your systems locale independent which installer language you used: {{ :bps2:sw-setup:img-1014.png |English Installer}} Start the installer by double-clicking the msi package. The welcome screen will show up after the installer has started: {{ :bps2:sw-setup:img-1015.png |Welcome}} After clicking //Next// the license agreement (EULA) is displayed. Read the EULA and decide if you can comply with it. Do not use BPS in case you do not agree with the terms. If the EULA is acceptable, check the checkbox below and then click //Next// to continue: {{ :bps2:sw-setup:img-1016.png |License Agreement}} The setup type window gives you 2 fixed sets of features (//Typical// and //Complete//) and a //Custom// choise where you you have detailed control over each feature and where to install. //Typical// is the best choise for plain client PC's. It installs all basic features needed to run the GUI interface in the default folder, and omits all the features needed by admins or on servers only. The //Complete// option installs all the bells and whistles of BPS to the default program folder, and may be a good choise for developer and admin workstations, or to explore BPS if you are new to it. The //Custom// option is for advanced users who need more features than the basic installation, but still not everything. Also, only with this option it is possible to select an alternate program folder for installation. {{ :bps2:sw-setup:img-1017.png |Setup Type}} In case you selected the //Custom// option, a tree view is displayed where the features most used on servers are preselected, and the samples, which are rarely used on servers, are unselected. Change the feature selection as desired. Additionally to the features, you can also select another installation folder by clicking the //Browse...// button. {{ :bps2:sw-setup:img-1018.png |Feature Selection}} The installer is configured to allow side by side installations of multiple BPS versions. It is however not possible to install the same version of the software more than once because the //Microsoft Software Installer// does not support that. **BPS Instances**\\ \\ It is possible to manually copy the program files to another program folder if it is necessary to have the same software version more than once. In this case you also need to manually copy the shortcuts and install the service. However in most every case it is better to have any BPS version installed only once. In case of a scheduler where multiple BPS instances are running batch jobs on the same BPS version, you may use the environment variable //BPS_LOGS// to redirect the logfiles into a distinct directory per instance. Click //Next// after selecting the desired features and installation folder. Before the installation starts, another screen will show up so you have the chance to think it over and in case go back to change settings. Click //Next// once you are ready to proceed. {{ :bps2:sw-setup:img-1019.png |Ready To Install}} While the installation steps are executing, the prograss is shown: {{ :bps2:sw-setup:img-1020.png |Installation Progress}} Finally after successfull installation, the finish page is displayed. Click //Finish// to terminate the software installation. {{ :bps2:sw-setup:img-1021.png |Finish}}
